Jeanne Silverthorne: From Darkness

The work of the New York based artist is showcased in a definitive monograph.

To reflect Silverthorne’s interest in dualities—light vs dark, enlightenment vs hubris —the book design features a glow-in-the-dark finish to combine two different books in one.

Combining two books in one, within the pages is an alternate set of content—notes and drawings handwritten by the artist—printed in glow-in-the-dark ink that can only revealed in darkness. Drawing on Silverthorne’s historic archive of transparencies and newly commissioned photographs, the catalogue focuses on the seminal 1994 sculpture, “Untitled (Chandelier)”. The catalogue also contains critical essays by myself as well as art historians Glenn Adamson, Sue Canning, and Saul Ostrow.
